Head Teacher - Graham Richards

My ethos to education is clearly aligned with that of the Little Acorns community. A sense of shared purpose, attention to detail and supporting young people to learn self-regulation strategies to succeed personally and within society. This sense of high wellbeing leads to academic success, where-ever a pupils starting point.

My previous experience was as an English and Drama teacher, before entering Specialist Education. I have worked at two Outstanding Schools providing support with pupils with Profound, Complex and Severe Needs. I have experience of curriculum development, safeguarding, assessment, behaviour support, training and coaching. Before arriving at Little Acorns, I was Headteacher for an independent secondary school for students with autism for four years. I have also been in senior leadership positions for a substantive period.

I believe strongly in Pupil, Parent and Staff voice; it is a combined, holistic approach to meeting our pupils needs which brings the greatest opportunities to be fully active citizens when moving on from Little Acorns.

Our staff group have a wealth of experience and understanding of supporting children and young people with a range of diverse needs; helping to create such a unique and welcoming environment.
